Roosha Mandal is a multidisciplinary dance artist. She began her training 16 years ago in in Bharatanatyam at the Nandanik Dance Academy in Pittsburgh, PA. Since, she has studied extensively in South Asian dance arts and taken master classes and workshops with renowned masters; these forms include: Navanritya, Manipuri, Kathakali and Mohiniattam. In addition, she has learned western dance forms – ballet, jazz-lyrical, hip hop, modern – and completed an intensive apprenticeship program at Kelly-Strayhorn Theater in contemporary dance with renowned traveling companies.
Over the years, Roosha travelled with Nandanik Dance Academy and Troupe to perform in different corners of the USA. She played key roles in the Nandanik dance Troupe’s productions including the VILAYA festival in 2018-2019. She has performed in the Bicentennial of Pittsburgh, Three-Rivers Regatta, Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, Western PA School for the Blind, Phipps Conservatory, Bayer International, Pittsburgh International Folk Festival, India Day, Bengali Association of Pittsburgh, and at numerous schools and colleges in the Greater Pittsburgh area through the World Affairs Council.
Roosha is a teaching artist and choreographer. She has taught new generations of students at Nandanik for the past eight years. As a choreographer, Roosha debuted and performed original works at the Carnegie Mellon Dancer’s Symposium, while studying at the university. She is currently a medical student at the University of Illinois – Chicago.
