Souryadeep Bhattacharyya is a well known name among the new generation of Indian classical musicians. He started his musical journey at the tender age of four years under the tutelage of sarodiya late Sri Jayanta Roy Chowdhury. Souryadeep is at present a premier “Gandabandhan” disciple of the legendary sarodiya Pt.Alok Lahiri under Guru-Shishya Parampara. He has a unique and versatile playing style encompassing the Maihar, Shahjahanpur and Gwalior gharanas of sarod.
Over the years, Souryadeep has been recognized internationally, has received prestigious music scholarships, and is now an empaneled artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Following a fellowship, Souryadeep served as the director of the renowned platform for emerging Indian artists, Indian Raga, in 2015. He has performed at stages across India and around the world, including Kultursenteret ISAK in Trondeim, Norway and the Lincoln Center in New York, New York.
